Hi guys, It's been a busy week so far, between everyday life/work stuff and getting orders ready, it's been CRAZY! For the last few days there has been tons of traffic on the Improved Mitre page and 4 have already sold. Demo planes are moving, as always, so if you see a listing for one that has been "out of stock" and it's now "in stock", it's because I had more than one, but didn't feel the need to make a whole new item listing. I have to watch the Demo's carefully because if I don't keep track of the inventory on my site(I'm horrible about this when it's busy), I will inevitably sell two of something that I may only have one of, so that lucky person more than likely gets a brand new, never touched plane for a massive discount. I will own my screw-ups, it's a great learning tool!
So as far as the Stanley No. 2 goes, here's what happened; If you follow my blog, you know that I've been trying to snag one for a while. After some bad luck I finally got one that I absolutely love, but...... It's almost too nice to use. It seriously is as close to mint as one could be without a box. That's great and all, but I actually wanted a user. I don't care if it shows it's age, patina is great character. So my buddy who owns an antique store called to tell me that he found one. After we negotiated a price, I picked it up. I am now the happy owner of a very well used No. 2. The iron is about shot, but there's enough for me to use it. This is more of what I was looking for, so my Sweetheart era No.2 (again, see the pics in my other blog post about it) is going to find a new home. I doubt I'll actually make a new listing for it, so if you want it the price is $300 which includes shipping. It has been lightly cleaned and I really don't think it was ever used until I got it last month. Email me if you want it and I'll send you an invoice. I hate doing the PayPal thing, so please pay the invoice ASAP or I'll cancel it!
Now for demos, I have done a few classes recently and I have a few planes that we used for them plus a couple more. I have the 2 Chariots(listed, $200), 3 smoothers($350-375, listed as well, with the best Rosewood I've ever seen, nothing like the other Rosewood demos I had, highly figured if you want to see pics, and one with Desert Ironwood). These are all the Medium Wide models. Finally I have ONE of the new Improved Style 7" Mitre Planes($350). It is the one that I used for the pictures in the listing, with highly figured Ironwood. It has been used, but still looks perfect. I will throw in my prototype shooting board that will be offered with the planes in the near future. I may or may not make a listing for it, so if you want it just let me know.
Finally, my new Thumb Plane will be out shortly, it is going to be awesome. It kind of overlaps with my 4.5" Chariot Plane, but I got a commission for one and decided to make more. I am so attached to my Chariot that I doubt I will give it up for the Thumb Plane, but it's one amazing tool nonetheless. If you have any questions you can get me email from the bottom of this page!
