THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS PURCHASED ONE OF MY VENEER SAWS! THIS HAS QUICKLY BECOME ONE OF MY BEST SELLING TOOLS. DUE TO IT'S POPULARITY, THERE IS AN APPROX. 1 WEEK WAIT TIME ON THEM.
A couple of years ago I had a table that was featured in the "Readers Gallery" of a woodworking magazine. The magazine approached me and asked if I would be willing to do an article on the table. Unfortunately there was a lot of work and it couldn't be condensed into 4 pages and 1000 words. This was mainly due to the tricky veneer work. The table needed 36 strips of 3/4"x40" veneer and had to be cut at odd angles on the ends. Describing this technique alone would take 2-3 pages and it was an all day process. I had one of those "standard" veneer saws that everyone sells(they feel like a screwdriver with a crooked saw blade attached) and I grew to really hate it because it was very uncomfortable for long cuts. After some trials I came up with what you see here. My veneer saw feels like a traditional Western Saw with a progressive arch on the plate. With the proper "hang angle" on the handle, your hand and wrist naturally makes the cut using the whole toothline while requiring almost no articulation of the wrist. I recently did a class on veneering and my saw unintentionally became part of the lecture, but everyone who tried it wanted one, so I decided to produce some to sell. Comes with either a Walnut or Cherry handle. I am 100% confident that once you try it, you'll never want to use that old style saw ever again.
