Collecting, preserving, restoring, and tuning hand saws is a true passion of mine. I buy and sell 50-100 saws a month and try to be as descriptive as I possibly can. Unless noted, all saws that I sell have been tuned, sharpened, and ready to work. Any other things that I may do will be listed. I take a lot of time to package my saws properly for shipping to make sure you get it in the exact condition it leaves my shop. This means that there may be a small handling fee added to the final shipping. If there is, this will be reflected on the checkout page. Thanks for looking! -Space Age Plane Co.
The Atkins No. 54 was similar in their lineup to Disston's No.7. It was a great user saw with benefits of some of their nicer ones, yet they used Beech for the handle and didn't skew the back to keep costs down. This particular saw was one of my users for a couple of years. I love the ergonomics of this saw and the handle feels great in your hand. The plate is shiny and straight, with a good etch and very minor staining and pitting(I try to show it's worst in the pics, so it looks even better in person). The Handle is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips to speak of. With a light set on the teeth, the 10tpi crosscut is perfect for cutting hardwoods with no real tearout. I demand a lot from the saws that I use in my shop daily and this one has earned its place well. I'm sad to see it go, but happy that someone else will get to enjoy it!
